Marathon 1000 GF, Chokwang Jotun Ltd. (South Korea)
Use advice for data set The flowchart in the figure below illustrates the system boundaries for the analysis, in accordance with the modular principle on EN 15804+A2. The analysis is a cradle-to-gate (A1-A3) study with options, in addition to module A4, transport to market, modules C1-C4 and module D are included.
Technical purpose of product or process Marathon 1000 GF is a two component polyamine cured epoxy coating. It is a high build, solvent free, glass flake reinforced product. It has very good impact and abrasion resistance. Suitable for environments with very high corrosivity, such as areas in the splash or tidal zone. The declared product can be used as primer, mid coat, finish coat or as single coat system in atmospheric and immersed environments. It is suitable for properly prepared carbon steel substrates. Protective: Suitable for structural steel and piping to be exposed to corrosive environments up to very high and immersed. Recommended for offshore environments, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings, mining equipment and general structural steel. Specially suited in areas where high mechanical strength is required. Marathon 1000 GF can be used as a non-slip deck system in combination with appropriate Anti-Skid aggregate and finish coat. Compatible with cathodic protection systems. For information on Green Building Standard credits, see subchapter "Additional technical information". The material composition of the declared mixed product is given below:

General comment on data set Data quality: Specific data for the product composition are provided by the manufacturer. The data represent the production of the declared product and were collected for EPD development in the year of study. Background data is based on EPDs according to EN 15804 and different LCA databases. The data quality of the raw materials in A1 is presented in the table below. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN 15804. Incoming energy and water and waste production in-house is allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Effects of primary production of recycled materials is allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all the essential energy is included. The production processes for raw materials and energy flows with very small amounts (less than 1%) are not included. These cut-off criteria do not apply for hazardous materials and substances.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
