| Use advice for data set | The flowchart in the figure below illustrates the system boundaries for the analysis, in accordance with the modular principle on EN 15804+A2. The analysis is a cradle-to-gate (A1-A3) study with options, in addition to module A4, transport to market, modules C1-C4 and module D are included. |
| Technical purpose of product or process | This is a surface tolerant two component ceramically reinforced polyamine cured zinc rich epoxy coating. 1:1 mixing ratio for easy use and reduced wastage. Designed for brush and roller application, makes it ideal for maintenance and touch-up/repairs during outfitting in new construction projects. Suitable for carbon steel, repair of inorganic zinc silicate coating and damaged galvanized steel substrates. It conforms to the compositional requirements of SSPC paint 20, level 2 and ISO 12944-5. This product complies with ASTM D520 type II zinc dust. Protective: Suitable for structural steel and piping exposed in corrosivity categories up to CX (ISO 12944-2). Recommended for offshore environments, refineries, power plants, bridges, buildings, mining equipment and general structural steel. Specially designed as a primer for coating systems where extended durability is required. For information on Green Building Standard credits, see subchapter "Additional technical information". The material composition of the declared mixed product is given below: |
| General comment on data set | Data quality: Specific data for the product composition are provided by the manufacturer. The data represent the production of the declared product and were collected for EPD development in the year of study. Background data is based on EPDs according to EN 15804 and different LCA databases. The data quality of the raw materials in A1 is presented in the table below. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN 15804. Incoming energy and water and waste production in-house is allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Effects of primary production of recycled materials is allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all the essential energy is included. The production processes for raw materials and energy flows with very small amounts (less than 1%) are not included. |

| Technology description including background system | Product mixing ratio (by volume): Barrier Smart Pack Comp A: 1 part(s). Barrier Smart Pack Comp B: 1 part(s). Density: 2.4 g/cm³ Solids by volume: 70 ± 2 volume% Film thickness per coat: Dry film thickness: 60 - 125 µm Wet film thickness: 85 - 180 µm Theoretical spreading rate: 11.7 - 5.6 m²/l The formulation chosen for this specific manufacturing site is that with highest raw material GWP-total (A1). This conservative approach allows the EPD to be representative for products with a selection of colours. The product packaging is based on an average sized metal packaging, including secondary packaging such as pallets and plastic wrapping. For safety, health and environmental conditions, see the Safety Data Sheet for the declared product on www.jotun.com.
