Use advice for data set The analysis is a cradle-to-gate (A1 - A3) study, with option A4 transport to market. It includes the extraction and production of raw materials, transportation to the production site, the production process itself and transport to the market.
Technical purpose of product or process The Vakom® Vannkum 2.0 is a water well solution made of polyethylene plastic with fully welded and sealed pipe penetrations. Intended use for water supply networks. The Vakom® Vannkum 2.0 is 100% watertight, featuring a fully welded bottom plate and chamber top. The system is fully buoyancy dimensioned with an integrated concrete foundation. It is well-suited for use in wetlands, groundwater areas, coastal zones, and other locations where groundwater poses a challenge. The water well height is customizable, and all pipe penetrations are fully welded to ensure complete watertightness. This also creates a fully welded construction that is tensile-resistant in all directions. The Vakom® Vannkum 2.0 is made of HDPE (polyethylene), which is a 100% recyclable material. This means that any future decommissioning will not pose any challenges. Furthermore, the water chambers can be produced with recycled material without affecting their quality and strength. Further information can be found at www.ulmo.no This EPD applies only to the water well and does not include any additional fixtures (valve, ladder, instrumentation, etc.). Input data for calculation: - Internal diameter ID1600 - Total heigth 2,5 m This is a system EPD that includes concrete anchoring for the water well. Project specific EPD including valves can be delivered on request.

General comment on data set Data quality: Specific data for the product composition are provided by the manufacturer. The data represent the production of the declared product and were collected for EPD development in the year of study. Background data is based on EPDs according to EN 15804 and different LCA databases. The data quality of the raw materials in A1 is presented in the table below. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN 15804. Incoming electricity and water are allocated according to measured electricity consumption for the actual production department. Water is used for cooling and it is assumed that the amount of water for cooling corresponds to the amount of energy used. Diesel and waste production in-house are allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Cut-off criteria: All raw materials and all the essential energy are included.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
