MicroShade® Low-E Triple Glazing - 6mm / 4mm / 8.76mm
Use advice for data set Modules A1-A5 are included in the analysis. It includes the extraction and production of raw materials, transportation to the factory, the production process itself, transportation and assembly. C1-C4 are included in the analysis. It includes the end of life stage. Section D is also included it describes the Reuse-Recovery-Recycling-potential.
Technical purpose of product or process The product is a high-performance triple-glazed insulating glass unit developed for use in facades, windows, and glazed elements where effective daylight control and thermal efficiency are required. The outer pane incorporates a Microshade® film to limit solar heat gain and glare while preserving daylight and outward visibility. This glazing system is well suited for both commercial and residential applications that demand advanced solar control, thermal insulation, and long-term durability. The insulating glass unit is composed of three panes with two spacer cavities. The outer pane is a 6 mm toughened low-iron glass with integrated Microshade® film. The middle pane is a 4 mm toughened low-iron glass with ECLAZ® coating, separated from the outer pane by a 12 mm spacer. The inner pane is an 8.76 mm laminated low-iron glass with ECLAZ® coating, separated from the middle pane by a 12 mm spacer. This configuration combines lamination, coatings, and interlayers to provide high light transmission, effective solar control, and enhanced thermal performance.

General comment on data set Data quality: Specific data for the product composition are provided by the manufacturer. The data represent the production of the declared product and were collected for EPD development in the year of study. Background data is based on EPDs according to EN 15804 and different LCA databases. The data quality of the raw materials in A1 is presented in the table below. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN 15804. Incoming energy and water and waste production in-house is allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Effects of primary production of recycled materials is allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all the essential energy is included. The production processes for raw materials and energy flows with very small amounts (less than 1%) are not included. These cut-off criteria do not apply for hazardous materials and substances.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
