Key Data Set Information
Location NO
Geographical representativeness description Nordic & Baltic countries
Reference year 2025
Name
Mapetard R
Use advice for data set The approach is “cradle to gate” (A1–A3) with module A4. The product is exempt from declaring modules C and D according to the PCR. The production process starts from raw materials, that are purchased from external and intercompany suppliers and stored in the plant. Bulk raw materials are stored in specific silos and added automatically in the production mixer, according to the formula of the product. Other raw materials, supplied in bags, big bags or tanks, are stored in the warehouse and added automatically or manually in the mixer. The production is a discontinuous process, in which all the components are mechanically mixed in batches. The quality of final products is controlled before the sale.
Technical purpose of product or process Mapetard R is a set retarding admixture based on sodium gluconate, used to control the setting of concrete. It is normally used in combination with other admixtures, e.g. Dynamon or Mapeplast. Mapetard R is used for concrete subjected to longer transportation times, for complicated casting procedures, or where a cast without joints is desirable despite interruptions in the casting work. Mapetard R is available in 25 liter cans, 200 liter drums, 1000 liter IBC containers and in tank. For more information see the TDS (Technical Data Sheet) on Mapei website (www.mapei.com).

General comment on data set Data quality: Specific data for the product composition are provided by the manufacturer. The data represent the production of the declared product and were collected for EPD development in the year of study. Background data is based on EPDs according to EN 15804 and different LCA databases. The data quality of the raw materials in A1 is presented in the table below. Allocation: The allocation is made in accordance with the provisions of EN 15804. Incoming energy and water and waste production in-house is allocated equally among all products through mass allocation. Effects of primary production of recycled materials is allocated to the main product in which the material was used. The recycling process and transportation of the material is allocated to this analysis. Cut-off criteria: All major raw materials and all the essential energy is included. The production processes for raw materials and energy flows with very small amounts (less than 1%) are not included. These cut-off criteria do not apply for hazardous materials and substances.

1This impact category deals mainly with the eventual impact of low dose ionizing radiation on human health of the nuclear fuel cycle. It does not consider effects due to possible nuclear accidents, occupational exposure nor due to radioactive waste disposal in underground facilities. Potential ionizing radiation from the soil, from radon and from some construction materials is also not measured by this indicator.
2The results of this environmental impact indicator shall be used with care as the uncertainties on these results are high or as there is limited experiences with the indicator.
